How to Get Your Massachusetts Medical Marijuana Card
Step 1: Schedule Your Appointment

Step 2: Complete Your Evaluation
During your consultation, your clinician will review your symptoms, past treatments, and current health challenges to determine if medical cannabis can benefit you.
If approved, your provider will issue an electronic Medical Use of Marijuana Certification through the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) system. You’ll receive a certification number, allowing you to immediately begin the registration process for your Massachusetts medical marijuana card.
Step 3: Register with the State
Once your evaluation is complete and you receive your certification, you’ll need to register with the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Medical Marijuana Program. You’ll create an account on the NYSDOH Cannabis Patient Registry and enter your certification information along with a valid government-issued ID or driver’s license.
Important Program Details
Medical cannabis in Massachusetts is available to residents aged 18 and older, or minors with a qualified caregiver.
Certified patients may purchase up to a 60-day supply (up to 10 ounces) of medical cannabis.
Massachusetts patients are allowed to grow cannabis plants at home, following state cultivation guidelines.
Medical patients pay no state excise tax on medical cannabis purchases.
